ICC Test Rankings Top-5 Batsmen - Updated

The Indian Team is currently on an England Tour for a 5 match test series. After the first 4 matches of the series, England is currently ahead in the series by 2-1. Apart from the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy, recently, some more test series were organised. In this cycle, world cricket has found some great talents, while some experienced players have done the work of advancing their legacy.  After these series, once again ICC announced the latest test rankings. Today we are going to tell you the top -5 batsmen of the ICC Test rankings.

  1. Joe Root (England) 888 points


The best test player of the current era is Joe Root. He is the top player in the present ICC rankings. Root is a classical player. In tests, no batsman is around him right now. He is the backbone of the England Test cricket team. In every pitch, every situation, he is scoring runs for his nation. Today, he is the only batsman who can break Sachin’s test records. Against India in the ongoing test series, once again, he is showcasing his class & ability. He has scored 403 runs in 7 innings, including 2 centuries and 1 half-century. After failing in the first couple of innings, he has returned to his tremendous form. 

  1. Kane Williamson (New Zealand) 867 points


A member of the current World Cricket fab-4, Kane Williamson is a particular test batsman who has amassed 9276 runs, including 33 hundreds and 37 half-centuries. According to the ICC Test rankings, he is presently ranked number two. He is among the top batsmen in cricket right now. In 2024, he amassed 1013 runs, including four hundreds and four half-centuries. In every format, he is regarded as the foundation of the New Zealand squad. Under its captaincy, New Zealand won the World Test Championship for the first time to defeat India in 2021. In his final appearance against India during the 2024 Test Series, he amassed 395 runs in 6 innings, including two half-centuries and a century.

  1. Harry Brook (England) 862 points


The cruelest batsman in this list, who scored almost every ball in Test cricket, Harry Brook, has ranked second in the ICC rankings. He made his Test debut against South Africa in 2022. After his debut, he scored 2656 runs in 48 Test innings. He is currently batting at 5 for his national team and has become an important player after the route. Currently, he is playing against the Indian Team in the ongoing ENG vs IND Test Series, where he has scored 317 runs, including a century and a half-century.

Steven Smith is considered one of the best batsmen in the present era. He is part of the current Fab-4 of world cricket. He is currently in number 4 in the ICC Test batting rankings. He scored 10477 runs in Test cricket, including 36 centuries and 43 half-centuries. Recently, he played the last 2 test matches against the West Indies in 3 three-match test series, where he scored 127 runs in 4 innings. His stats don’t match their reputation, but he played this series after an injury. 

  1. Yashasvi Jaiswal (India) 801 points


Yashasvi Jaiswal, a great young talent, is now number 5 in the ICC test rankings.He made his debut against the West Indies in 2023. According to many cricket experts, He will be the next superstar for Team India in the upcoming cricket matches, just like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. He is currently an opening batsman for Team India. He has already become an important part of every format so far. Currently, he is also on the England Tour with the Indian Team, where he has scored 291 runs in 8 innings, including a century and a half-century.
